Welcome to The John Paul Centre
. .

.

.

The John Paul Centre is an outreach of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Middlesbrough, providing a place of welcome in the centre of the town. It is staffed by the Redemptorist Community and a team of volunteers.

Our Vision-

The logo of the John Paul Centre is an image of the father welcoming home his prodigal son with the motto: 'Where Strangers Become Friends'.

Programmes and Activities-

The John Paul Centre is open each day Mon-Sat from 10 am till 2.30 pm. We have a coffee bar, 'holy' shop and chapel. A Catholic Mass is celebrated each day and a priest is available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, counselling or other help. We have an outreach to the homeless and poor, giving what help and support we can as part of a network in town which provides food on a daily basis. Our volunteers run the Upper Room for the homeless each Saturday from 1 pm - 2 pm. The Centre is also used by Marriage Care, to provide guidance and counselling for married couples.
Middlesbrough Mind run a drop in centre for those with mental and emotional problems in the basement, while other offices are used by Teesside Homeless Action Group, Peopleserve, Middlesbrough Council of Faiths and MIND.
